The summer / evaluation
camp positions are filling up fast but
We are still accepting
registrations for defence and forwards. Please
do not hesitate to register if you would like to participate
in the summer /
evaluation camp.
The Ice goal tending

are unable to accept any further registrations for

If however, you are
a goalie that would like to try out for the Ice, the main camp
begins on September 2nd . Please contact Coach Jeff Evans or
Club President Glenn Ulrich if you would like to

Summer Camp and
Tryouts Posted May 28,
2009
The Georgina Ice JR C Hockey club begins
our 2009/2010 season with the kick off of our Summer Camp 2009
onJuly 8, 2009.
The Ice would like to invite
you to our evaluation / conditioning camp which runs every
Wednesday night from 8:00 to 11:00
PM. The camp consists of
scrimmage games, conditioning drills and this year we plan to
add a dry land component which will run on a different day of
the week than the on-ice program. Each player that
participates in the camp is guaranteed 8 games and an Ice
practice Jersey. The fee for
the camp is $125.
The camp is a great tool to
aid you with your summer conditioning program, while keeping
you on the ice.
At the conclusion of our
evaluation / conditioning camp, a select group of players will
be selected to participate in the main camp and into our
exhibition season. The camp is a great tool to aid you with
your summer conditioning program, while keeping you on the
ice.
Typically our camp is a mix of
players trying to earn a spot on our hockey club, as well as
players that are playing both provincial JR A and in the
OHL. It is this
mix of talent that provides for the highly competitive
environment.
The Ice are looking forward to a
successful 2009 / 2010 season and there are a number of roster
positions open due to players moving on to play at a higher
level, school commitments and through the loss of overage
players.
The Ice, continue to have a
strong working relationship with the OJHL Newmarket Hurricanes
and several of our players have had the opportunity to
practice and play with the Hurricanes on a regular
basis.
If you would like to confirm a
spot in the camp, you may contact either Jeff Evans or Glenn
Ulrich at the numbers or email address listed
below, to reserve your spot.
Upon confirmation
you will be provided with a schedule outlining your team
colour and your game times on a weekly basis. The dry land
conditioning portion will be updated on the website
(www.georginaice.com) as to the dates that it will be
available.
Players that are still
minor hockey age eligible and wish to try out with our club
will require a permission to skate form from their minor
hockey
organization.
Please make cheques
payable to the "
Georgina
Ice" and address it to the club President listed on
registration form.

To us, Don Sanderson was a Hockey Player,
a Team-mate and a Friend. To many others his name
as become synonymous with an outpouring of emotion for change
throughout the hockey world. Many people have varied opinions
on the issue of fighting in today's game.
I do not intend to express an opinion
on such but yet prefer to use this medium to help convey any
information pertaining to Don.
Today, I
was sent a copy of an interview with Michael
Sanderson (Don's Father) in MacLean's Magazine. I
feel it is only fitting to post it
to our website in Don's Memory, to help keep our
local fans and friends of Don's informed. Please see the
"
Reflections of Don
Sanderson
" section of our
website, to read the interview with Michael
Sanderson.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to
Michael and Dahna and their families, as they try to make
sense of such a horrible tragedy.
