NEWMARKET HURRICANES (Jr. A)

The Newmarket Hurricanes put on an unbelievable playoff run this season, making it all the way to the OHA Buckland Cup Championship beating four teams until losing it to the Oakville Blades in a hard fought series 4 - 2.

It was an unforgettable season for the Hurricanes who finished 2nd overall in the CCHL and won their Division title as well as the league title this year. Ultimately the long playoff run came to an end, but not before the Hurricanes brought the winning spirit back to Newmarket.

Dear Mayor Grossi & Glenn Ulrich

I would like to extend my sincerest Thank you to yourselves , the town of Keswick & the Georgina Hockey Club. As a Torch Bearer from Hamilton running in Keswick I was blown away by how this small town came out for us and the torch relay. Your town shows a lot of Olympic & Team spirit. The fact that I was also honored to be a Special Guest at the Ice Palace during my nephew Mitchell Mallany’s team game that night just added to my very special day. Words can not express the feelings that I felt yesterday while running through your town or taking pictures in the arena with every kid there oh yeah and the maintenance crew : )

I could just see the power that this Torch held to them and I FELT that power in your town.  Please know that this means the world it me and I will never ever forget the feeling I felt from running through the GREAT town of KESWICK and attending the hockey game that night. The welcome I received was like coming home.

You should all be very HOMETOWN PROUD.

KESWICK ROCKS !!!!

Sincerely
Torch Bearer # 145
Margaret Maillet
